Arrangement for concert band by Erik Somers

For Harmonie St. Michaël van Thorn, I arranged the Finale from Sinfonia Domestica by Richard Strauss. In this work, Strauss offers an intimate glimpse into his family life. Whereas in Ein Heldenleben he portrayed himself as a proud hero battling his critics, Sinfonia Domestica presents a more modest narrative: a musical depiction of a day in the life of the Strauss household — featuring the composer himself, his wife, and their young son.

The premiere of this arrangement took place as part of Harmonie St. Michael’s competition program on Saturday evening, 8 November, at the Concert Hall in Enschede.
